Why be exclusively dedicated to Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon?

There is no greater place in the USA to grow and make Cabernet Sauvignon than the Napa Valley. Secret Door Winery has chosen to work exclusively with the Cabernet Sauvignon grape within the Napa Valley because our belief that this is the promised land for our favorite grape. Our wines are 100% Cabernet Sauvignon with no other grape varieties blended. This is a stylistic choice but also an assertion that Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley can be complete, complex and compelling without supporting varieties like Merlot or Cabernet Franc.

We also note that Cabernet Sauvignon grown in one part of the Napa Valley can be quite different from other parts even when the winemaking is very similar. We have chosen two vineyards in Napa to pursue our dream Cabernet Sauvignon one from the valley floor in the Stags Leap District and one from the mountains east of St. Helena.
